Box Embellishments

AFTER: I must have a lot of house work to avoid, because I've been itching for crafty little projects. I was contemplating organizing my studio, when I was distracted by these two ugly boxes I keep supplies in. Then I remembered this much-drooled-over wrapping paper I picked up at Old Navy. One thing lead to another and PRESTO, two new boxes. In the end it was this little creative break through that inspired me to get to work on the hard stuff. I totally organized my studio closet and book case. Now I just need a fun little craft to inspire me to do laundry! Any ideas?

Lily's Garden

My little Lily is so enthusiastic and so fun to do things for. Before we moved into this house I would get her excited about the move by talking about her new bedroom. She informed me that it had to be orange and pink with flowers on the wall. So I have tried to fulfill her little fantasy.

I remember when I was about her age I longed for red patent leather mary-janes. My mom, sister, and I looked everywhere for them. We never did find them, but even then I appreciated the effort. I also remember begging for a hair-do that looked like the top of a wedding cake. So, some little girl fantasies should definitely be ignored. But an orange and pink room with flowers on the wall I can handle.

Still Sick, But Feeling Better

There is something to be said for the second trimester. I can't say I'm any less sick, but I am thinking more clearly and feeling more creative. I always know I'm in a rut if I'm not creating anything. But last week I finally finished a painting (I'll post that later) and today (miracle of miracles) I'm postin' stufff on my blog!

Lily's room is a work in progress, but I thought I'd post some pictures of what I've done so far. My grandfather made the doll house for my sister and me when we were little. It was pretty beat up when it reached Lily, but my mom and I refurbished it with some paint, carpet, wall paper, and fabric. Can you believe the "master bed" my mom made. Those little pillows drive me crazy. What is it about tiny stuff. I swear I spent half my childhood infront of this doll house. My brothers would bring GI Joe over (do you remember the big one's) and we'd take Barbie "camping". Lily doesn't play with it much, but I'll probably keep it up til' she's 19. All those tiny things make me giddy.

Thanks for all the well wishes during these barfy months. I think I'm through the worst worst of it.
